WHAT WE DO: As literary agents, our chief task is to shape literary projects and ensure that they have the best positioning and opportunity to attract offers from reputable, established publishers. Once the book is acquired by a house, we continue to champion that author through each stage of the publication process. The additional priority of placing film, television, and foreign rights is handled through a network of agencies and publishers in order to provide each work with the widest exposure to the most likely markets.

QUERIES & SUBMITTED MATERIALS: We try to respond to queries as quickly as possible, but due to volume, response time may vary. We ask that authors wait at least four weeks before checking back with us via e-mail. For longer proposals and manuscripts we often require up to twelve weeks to review the work. All work for review must be sent by hard-mail copy only. We do not receive manuscripts via e-mail or on disk. If your work is a multiple submission, please indicate this in the cover letter.

COVER LETTER: All submissions should include a one-page cover letter including your name, title of your work(s), address, phone number(s) (i.e., telephone, cell and FAX numbers), and an e-mail address. Your e-mail address is important; most of our contact regarding new submissions, newsletters, and announcements is maintained via e-mail; this allows for more prompt and efficient communication.

OFFERS FOR REPRESENTATION: When we agree to work with authors we require the signing of a standard agency contract which also specifies split accounting when we sell your work. this means the publishers split the payment at the source: your 85% goes directly to you and my 15% commission goes directly to me.

SUBMISSIONS PROCESS: We create a submissions summary report for all client work submitted to publishers. Updates are available via email at your request.

OFFERS FOR PUBLICATION: All offers for publication received for your work will be presented to you, discussed, and the decision of acceptance will be yours.

COMMISSIONS: Our commission is fifteen percent of your income from the sale of the work. When we use additional subagents for subsidiary rights, the combined commission for all agents never exceeds twenty percent/

NO READING FEE: We do not charge a reading fee for the review of your work. We provide consultation for editorial services and book promotion only to our clients ,or on a case-by-case basis at Nancy’s discretion. Should you decide to retain any of these services we will recommend reputable professionals whose work we know and trust.
