The
Nancy Ellis Literary Agency is marking its 33rd year of serving authors
and publishers in the areas of non-fiction, fiction and children's literature.
Originally started as an adjunct to her collegiate creative writing
program, the Agency has produced award-winning and bestselling authors
with 63 titles still in print. Traditionally, at least fifty percent
of those authors have been debut launches; it was for this reason that
Writers Digest named Nancy one of the top 25 agents in the country.
Today,
in addition to launching new careers, the Agency also emphasizes career
expansion for New York Times Bestselling authors and others with strong
publishing track records. The current list emphasizes non-fiction which
offers a measure of transformation for the reader, regardless of category.
With fiction, the challenges of the industry for debut novelists mandate
that with rare exception we are seeking only those with publishing credits.
For children's literature we are only representing current clients.
Our film relationships continue as always, both for major film and television.
My
publishing vision for 2010 and beyond will focus on two primary categories:
memoir/narrative non-fiction, and the world of animals.
Launch titles for that vision incude six books, available now or scheduled
for release in early 2010, along with new titles under submission.

As indicated by the books and offerings above, my taste in both memoir/narrative
non-fiction and animalia is diverse. My focus, however, is singular:
enlightening, enlivening our intellects and spirits with stories that
need to be told.
As
we move toward 2010, our continuing mission is to help writers achieve
not just a sale but a career. There will always be a need for good books;
we are committed to addressing that need.
