For Non-Fiction:

Please query first via email, identifying the content of your proposed work, a short bio and any pertinent marketing/media background.  If I'm intrigued by your query, I will then ask for your full proposal, again via email.  That proposal should contain the following:

Original query letter
Overview of project (one to two pages)
Bio (one page, ideally)
Outline of project with two to three sentence description for each chapter (three to five pages)
Marketing plan (two to five pages, depending on topic)
Professional and/or media endorsements if those are available
Competitive analysis of other books similar to yours.  Analysis should include approximately six books on the current market, and indicate in two to five sentences how your book stands out.

I typically respond to queries within the week they arrive;  proposals within thirty days of receipt.


For Fiction:

Please query first via email, focusing on major plot points and character conflict/interaction.  Also include your bio and any publishing background or literary awards.  If interested in seeing more, I will ask for the following:

Original query letter
One page synopsis of book
One page bio
Marketing plan (two to five pages)
Professional/literary/media endorsements if available
Competitive analysis of six comparable, current novels;  include two to five sentence description of how your novel stands out.
Sample chapters (roughly the first 75 pages)

I typically respond to queries within the week they arrive;  practical manuscripts within six weeks of receipt.

 

For Children's Fiction and Non-Fiction:

Please send only a query letter which includes your previous publishing background.  I no longer accept unpublished children's authors.  In terms of age group and content, my interests are full spectrum.
